ERIN TONKON

Erin Tonkon is a New York based producer, engineer, and mixer. Erin began engineering at the young age of sixteen. During college she studied under the likes of vetted producers Bob Power and Nicholas Sansano.  It is during this time that Erin began her six years working as an engineer and production assistant to legendary rock producer Tony Visconti.

Erin’s close work alongside Visconti introduced her to David Bowie, a relationship which culminated in engineering, mixing and performing backing vocals on Bowie’s Grammy award-winning final album, “Blackstar”. Her other credits include everyone from master jazz instrumentalist and vocalist, Esperanza Spalding to legendary punk icons, The Damned.

Erin has produced and mixed tracks for a wide range of rock, electronic and pop artists including Grace Ives whose debut ‘Janky Star’ was New York Times ‘Album of the year’ in 2022, art-punk songstress, Nuha Ruby Ra, indie rock icon Sad13, legendary punk singer Richard Hell with Nick Zinner. She has also produced albums by Lady Lamb and mixed the critically acclaimed record by 4AD’s PIXX.

When not working with clients, Erin educates the next generation of engineers and producers as a Professor at the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at New York University where she teaches Engineering and Production.
